The Breitling Replica Navitimer AOPA has just been released as a tribute to the 1950s original
The cult pilot’s Breitling replica watches uk continues its reign with the launch of a limited edition inspired by the very first Navitimers from the 1950s. The new model’s release also coincides with the 75th anniversary of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, and the AOPA’s 60th year of association with Breitling.
The original Navitimer was developed from Breitling’s onboard chronographs for navigation calculations in aeroplanes, which it began producing in the early 1930s. Twenty years later, the world’s pilots were demanding chronographs for the wrist, and the Navitimer – complete with circular slide rule – was born in 1962.
The Swiss Breitling replica watches world’s largest aeronautical association loved it, snapping the Navitimer up as their official timepiece – the reason that a lot of surviving Navitimers from the 1950s and 60s are stamped with the AOPA’s winged logo. It proved so successful that the Navitimer has been in continuous production ever since.
The new self-winding Navitimer AOPA bears the same gold logo on the black dial and engraved on the stainless steel caseback, guaranteeing it a place in the hearts of future collectors. Perhaps more excitingly – certainly for anyone welcoming the recent trend towards slightly more modest case sizes, is the news that the AOPA Navitimer measures 42mm across. Inside, it’s powered by the high frequency COSC chronometer-certified Breitling Caliber 23, and – of course – features a bidirectional rotating bezel with circular slide rule.
Staying faithful to the original, the new dial sports three black subdials in a 3-6-9 arrangement, but has ditched the numerals in favour of legible indices. There’s a date window too, discreetly tucked between 4 and 5 o’clock. The cambered sapphire glass has been glareproofed on both sides, and the watch is water resistant to 30m.
The Replica Breitling Navitimer AOPA will be limited to 500 pieces, and comes on either a crocodile leather strap or steel bracelet.
Breitling released the self-winding Replica Breitling Superocean II at this year’s Baselworld, with a new thinner profile, redesigned dial and bezel and Ocean Racer rubber strap. There are 42 and 44mm versions in black or mariner blue, and a nimble 36mm version in black or all-white.
It’s a nifty downsize that works well, especially considering the oversize direction Breitling took at last year’s Baselworld with the 46 and 48 (!) millimetre Navitimers. The 36mm white Superocean II on a white rubber strap makes a stylish ladies’ diving watch, but the black version with steel bracelet inevitably has a more masculine look.
All hold the COSC-certified in-house cheap replica Breitling Caliber 17, which beats at 28,800 vph and has 25 jewels. It’s protected by a screw-locked crown, with beyond-ample water resistance which varies according to size: from 200m for the 36mm and 500m for the 42mm up to an impressive 1,000m for the 44mm.
On all three sizes, the case profile has been slimmed down to a more wearable thickness – just 11.25mm on the 36mm, for example. The case is robust steel, satin-brushed on the 44mm version and with a polished finish on the 36mm and 42mm models.
There are a couple of stylistic changes too: the Breitling Replica Superocean numerals and numbers on the bezel are in a more classic font than on previous incarnations, and there’s an internal circle of 24-hour numerals. For easy reading on deep-water or night dives, the oversize hands and numerals are coated in white lume.
The ratcheted unidirectional rotating bezel now has a handy countdown scale, with individual notches for Breitling replica watches sale tracking the last 15 minutes of dive time. There’s a luminescent dot-shaped marker inside a triangle at 12 o’clock, a motif which pops up again as the stamped-out holes in the redesigned Ocean Racer rubber strap.
The Breitling Replica Bentley B06 with its original “30-second chronograph” system is being rolled out in a new more compact version accentuating its sophisticated and sporty design. It returns in a special S version with a 44 mm diameter. The knurled pattern on the bezel, a nod to the famous Bentley radiator grills, is picked up in the motif stamped on the black or silver dial. But alongside its unusual eye-catching design, the Bentley B06 S is also distinguished by its exclusive engine. Manufacture Breitling Calibre B06, entirely developed and produced in the Breitling Chronométrie workshops, and officially chronometer-certified, boasts an ingenious “30-second chronograph” system inspired by a 1926 replica Breitling watches patent. It involves a central hand sweeping around the dial in half a minute and thus ensuring extremely precise eighth-of-a-second readings of the times it measures. Another worldwide exclusive feature is the “variable tachymeter” with rotating bezel, serving to calculate average speeds whatever the time elapsed, the distance covered or the speed reached. The Bentley B06 S is available in steel or red gold and comes with a choice of a bracelet or a strap in leather, crocodile or rubber with a central raised pattern matching the bezel.
